AF-S NIKKOR 18-200mm 1:3.5-5.6GII ED
This was my most used lens ever. I took about 90% of my photos with this lens when I had DX (D7000) camera. Only time I didn't use this lens was when I needed a super wide-angle lens or I was taking pictures indoor. This was my perfect walk around lens. I left this on my D7000 and sometimes had my Tokina 11-16mm in my pocket.
The autofocus is very quick and accurate, and there is the manual over-ride without switching my camera from "Auto" to "Manual". The VR works great. The lens itself becomes twice as long when I'm shooting at 200mm. There is a lock at 18mm to prevent the lens from creeping and elongating when I'm walking around.
Of course there are a lot better, sharper lens with better bokeh and less distortion, etc. But, this lens covers most of my ranges and perfect for a lazy person like me. Because it can cover most of the ranges, I rarely miss an opportunity to frame things that way I want. You can argue that I can always crop pics on a computer later to frame however I want, but again I'm lazy to do that. Here are some samples. In a good light condition, it can take as good of a picture as any expensive professional lens.
