Looking at one Joshua tree between two huge rocks. They act as a frame to punctuate the tree. I forced the flash to make this picture this certain look. Using this basic technique to have this dark border with brighter center. Eyes tend to stay inside of the picture and don't escape out of the dark frame/border. Simple technique to keep your eyes stay in the center (Nikon D7000, Nikkor 18-200mm at 18mm, 1/250 f/13)

Wildflower C.C. No.5, Par 3, 140 yd. Over the pond. Winter is over and the rain finally stopped. Now it's time for the wildflower season. These ducks are always on this hole. They are so used to the golfers now that they don't even flinch when I get very close to them to take pictures. I'm on the ground to be level with the ducks on the tee box and shooting toward the pin. I'm focusing on the closest duck with the narrowest depth of field by setting my aperture to the highest. This is all natural, taken in JPEG, no post processing. (Nikon D7000, Nikkor 24-70mm at 70mm, 1/2500 f/2.8, Landscape mode, auto WB, ISO 200)
Looking at Lincoln Memorial in D.C. Location, time and composition came together. Silhouette of this mother and daughter taking pictures of Lincoln Memorial from the edge of the reflection pool was kind of nice. I did a lot of post cropping to get this composition. I placed my camera on the ground to avoid the shake in this dark situation. (Nikon D90, Nikkor 18-200mm VR at 40mm, 1/4 f/4.5)
Here I'm taking a picture of a fish tank with jelly fish in it. This is one of fusion restaurants in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I cropped out the frame of the fish tank so that it looks like the fish are in the air. (Nikon D7000, Nikkor 18-200mm at 18mm, 1/30 f/3.5)
One of my favorite B&W picture comes from my film camera, Nikon F100. I used a positive slide film (Fuji Velvia 50) and scan the picture into Jpeg. I used a high quality scan to make this pic 30MP equivalent. I converted the colored scanned image into B&W by simply reducing the saturation to none. I didn't use any special software for this B&W pic. The grain is real, coming from the film. (Nikon F100, Nikkor 20mm 1:2.8D, Fuji Velvia 50)
There are a lot of 2 x 2 images (I don't know what to call this. If you know, let me know) when I read Japanese photo magazines or websites. There are a lot of these in B&W in Japanese photo contests. This is my first attempt. The theme is Indian wedding.
I took about 30 pictures from the same place in front of my house. Of those, I liked this composition the most. (Nikon D7000, Nikkor 18-200mm at 18mm, 1/60 f/3.5, graduated filter)
I went to B&H store (a ridiculously big camera store) in Manhattan, NY. It's on 34th and 9th. On 34th, there also is the Empire State building. I captured a cab, hotdog stand and the building in this one shot. Nothing is more Manhattan than those 3 things. I just purchased my first professional zoom lens and this is one of first shots with it. I purchased it at B&H. I just purchased this FX lens, preparing for my D4 I preordered. (Nikon D7000, Nikkor 24-70mm at 38mm, 1/200 f/2.8)
